Doctor

Dr. Andrea J Bivens , DVM, BS

Dr. Andrea Bivens was raised in Miami, Florida and attended the University of Florida in Gainesville where she received both her undergraduate and her veterinary degrees. While in veterinary school she met her husband, John Bivens, a classmate, and now a veterinarian specializing in equine dentistry.

After graduation, Drs. John and Andrea moved to Charlotte County where they have lived ever since. In 1996 Dr. John Bivens opened his own practice where he provides specialty dental care for his equine patients.

Dr. Andrea Bivens opened Animal Medical Clinic of Punta Gorda, an exclusively small animal practice, in 1998. There she is able to pursue her dream of high quality, family oriented, and technologically advanced veterinary practice. The family enjoys the company of their two dogs, four cats, and one horse.

Both Drs. John and Andrea are active members of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and the Charlotte County Veterinary Medical Association.

Technician

Susan Sealing

Sue was raised in Maryland in a town halfway between Baltimore and Washington D.C. She started her career as a veterinary technician in 1990 at a hospital just outside of Washington D.C. and has been working as a technician ever since.

Sue joined Animal Medical Clinic of Punta Gorda in early 2004 and has never looked back. The relationship she has with her co-workers is that of family. Sue likes to spend her free time training and showing her dogs in A.K.C. and U.K.C. obedience mainly , but she does play around in Schutzhund and conformation occasionally.

Since the birth of her daughter, Hailey, in August 2006 her time has been limited wiith the dogs. Sue hopes that once Hailey gets a little older she will enjoy the dogs as much as Sue does.

Her long term goal professionally is to give many more years of dedication to this practice, and continue to give compassionate care to each and every patient and pet owner.

Personally, she hopes to be the best mother to her daughter and continue to train and show her dogs.
Shawn Henson

Shawn was born in Baltimore but has been a Charlotte County resident her whole adult life. Shawn lives with her husband, their daughter, and their much loved chihuahuas, cats, and birds.

Shawn has been affiliated with Animal Medical Clinic of Punta Gorda since 2001.
Melinda Hutchinson

Melinda was born and raised in Punta Gorda, where she has always lived with and enjoyed animals.

Melinda, when she isn't at work, enjoys spending time with her family and riding her horse.

Reception

Cherie Perez

Cherie Perez was born in Canada and raised in Puerto Rico, before moving to Florida. She is the proud mother of two teenagers and as well as an adorable 5 year old daughter. Cherie has 3 four legged family members as well, all of the k9 variety.

Cherie moved to North Port with her husband Jorge and family in 2005. Cherie has worked her entire adult life in the veterinary field in Miami.

Cherie joined Animal Medical Clinic of Punta Gorda in 2007, where she feels right at home. Cherie enjoys the interaction with all of our clients and their furry family members.
Ashley Ewing

Ashley is the newest member of our staff. We proudly welcome Ashley, who comes to us from the wildlife center.

Ashely is the proud mother of a Golden Retriever named Charlie.
